Nestled in the heart of the Riverina, Temora Shire offers a place with a kaleidoscope of attractions to offer. From golden beginnings to high flying achievements, Temora has spread its wings to become more than just another country town. Known for its internationally acclaimed aviation museum in a district of agricultural excellence, Temora is always reaching for the sky On the weekend of the 7th, 8th and 9th of November 2008, the Temora Regional Airport will be opened up to up to 80 different airworthy scale replica aircraft that will range from World War 1 biplanes, Lancaster Bombers and Modern Jet fighter, competing in 4 separate classes will vie for line honours as they meet the challenges which make up the 1st Temora Invitational Scale Classic. The TISC is destined to become one of Australasia’s most sought after aero modelling events, attracting an amazing array of aircraft from all states of Australia, plus New Zealand, and strong early interest from Thailand, Japan and the USA. WHAT IS SCALE AVIATION All ABOUT? Scale Aviation takes a few different forms. In this case , competitors showcase their aircraft to a panel of judges who asses them against the fidelity of the model (Static Score) and the ability to fly it in a way that depicts the full size aircraft (Flight Score) Competitors need to rely on the aircrafts handling and manoeuvring, as well as their own reflexes, in events which are not always about speed alone. The winner of the event is the Competitor who has amassed the highest aggregate score taken on the combination of the static and flying scores at the end of the event. The rules for the event can be found by following the link on the top left of this page. TYPES OF AIRCRAFT Forget the idea that you may have about model aircraft until you see these machines. Can you imagine a full scale replica of a modern jet fighter, complete with a real jet turbine engine? hat about if it flies at 200 kms/hr and is steered around the sky using remote control? What about a replica WW2 vintage Spitfire that has a 3 metre wingspan, 150 cc motor and flies at 100 km’s/hour? Not only that, but who would risk flying a model aircraft that could be worth up to $50,000? These are the sorts of machines that will be flying at the Temora Invitational Scale Classic. COMPETITORS The competitors would be from a broad cross section, as the aircraft themselves. All competitors are true enthusiasts generally males aged between 18 – 80 years and all must be of the highest skill in building and flying to be worthy of an invite. Competitors will be invited from all over the world, with the majority coming from Australia. Please contact the committee if you would like to register your interest in being considered for and invitation to compete in this event AIRSHOW The Temora Invitational Scale Classic policy will be to run as the name suggests a specialised invitational style competition, the aim of the organisers to reward our visitors with a spectacular Lunchtime Airshow which will showcase the high performance end of our hobby with Freestyle Aerobatic Demonstrations, Jet displays, spectacular large-scale warbirds and the best RC Helicopter display available in Australia.
